Its gana is Rakshasa. Gana is a classification of temperament into Deva, Manushya and Rakshasa that is used in Kundli matching.

The Navamsa sign of each pada is used in the Navamsa chart, the divisional chart most often read for marriage and the deeper strength of planets.
Dhanishta and the Dasha Sequence
The lord of Dhanishta is Mars. If the Moon was in Dhanishta at birth, the Vimshottari Dasha sequence begins with the Mahadasha of Mars, which lasts 7 years in full. The part remaining at birth depends on how far the Moon had travelled through the Nakshatra.
Mars also rules Mrigashira and Chitra.
